We are not vegan, which made our stay at La Vimea in South Tyrol particularly interesting. The hotel is in Naturno, surrounded by the mountains and orchards of the Val Venosta, with Merano within easy reach.

A quiet base near Merano
Naturno works well for combining time outdoors with a slower hotel stay. Merano offers gardens, historic streets and the Tappeiner Trail, an easy panoramic walk above the town.

Wellness in the park
La Vimea’s garden includes a natural swimming pond, a wooden platform used for yoga and an outdoor sauna. Indoors, there is a pool, bio sauna, Finnish sauna, heated-stone loungers and a relaxation room.

The spaces are simple and closely connected to the garden. Moving between the sauna, pond and quiet deck became one of the most restorative parts of the stay.
Vegan cuisine
The food changed our assumptions about vegan cooking. Breakfast included pancakes, cakes, yoghurt alternatives and savoury options; dinner followed a multi-course format with risotto, soups, salads and desserts.

The kitchen focuses on organic, seasonal produce and prepares bread, cakes and many other elements in-house. Dietary requirements are handled carefully, without making the meal feel restrictive.

Yoga and a slower rhythm
Yoga and meditation sessions are part of the hotel’s programme, with group and private options available. Together with the natural materials, quiet park and plant-based cuisine, they give the stay a clear and coherent rhythm.
La Vimea is best suited to travellers who want wellness and food to be central to their time in South Tyrol, rather than simply added to a conventional hotel stay.
