Malmö is around forty minutes by train from Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge, making it practical for a day trip or a short extension to a stay in Denmark. I visited in collaboration with Malmö Town.
The city centre is easy to cover on foot or by bicycle. From the central station, Stortorget leads into Gamla Staden, where historic façades, museums, restaurants and small squares occupy the oldest part of the former port city.
Västra Hamnen lies on a former shipyard beside the sea. Contemporary housing, waterfront paths and planted public spaces show how the district was redeveloped around lower-impact energy systems and everyday access to the coast.
Slottsparken and Kungsparken form a continuous green area around canals near Malmö Castle. The City Library sits at one edge and is worth entering for its light-filled contemporary extension, particularly on a rainy day.
Triangeln station offered another indoor architectural stop, with a sculptural entrance and broad underground platforms.
